iOS App

The Oppex app for iPhone alerts you when an incident is assigned to you, and lets you acknowledge, snooze, and resolve it from your phone. You can choose a different sound for each severity, and let the most urgent incidents play through silent mode and Focus.

Install the app

  1. On your iPhone, open the Oppex app on the App Store.
  2. Tap Get to install it.
  3. Open the app. When iOS asks whether Oppex may send notifications, tap Allow.
  4. Sign in. See Signing In on Mobile.

The app needs iOS 16.4 or later.

Allow notifications, or you will not be alerted

If you do not allow notifications, the app cannot alert you about incidents. To change your answer later, open the iPhone Settings app, tap Oppex, tap Notifications, and turn on Allow Notifications.

Choose a sound for each severity

A different sound for each severity lets you tell how urgent an incident is from the alert alone.

  1. Open the side menu and tap Notification Settings.
  2. Under Notification Sound by Severity, tap a severity, such as SEV 1.
  3. In Sound for SEV 1, choose a sound. Tap a sound to hear a 5-second preview.
  4. Repeat for the other severities, then tap Save Preferences.
SoundWhat you hear
DefaultYour phone's notification sound. Every severity starts with this.
No SoundNo sound. On iPhone, this may fall back to your phone's notification sound.
Oppex Alarm, Ambulance, Burglar AlertThe named alert sound

Your choices are saved to your Oppex account, and they apply to every iPhone where you are signed in.

Standard alerts follow your phone's silent and Focus settings

Without critical alerts, an Oppex notification behaves like any other app's. It is silent when your ring switch is set to silent, and it follows your Focus settings. To let urgent incidents break through, turn on critical alerts.

Let urgent incidents play through silent mode and Focus

Critical Alerts plays the severity's sound at full volume even when your iPhone is on silent or a Focus such as Do Not Disturb is on.

  1. In Notification Settings, turn on Critical Alerts.
  2. When iOS asks whether Oppex may send critical alerts, tap Allow.
  3. Tick the severities that should play as critical alerts. SEV 1 Critical is ticked to start with.
  4. Tap Save Preferences.

If you did not allow critical alerts, the app shows Enable Critical Alerts in Settings with the steps to turn them on. Tap Open Settings, tap Notifications, and turn on Critical Alerts. When you return to the app, the toggle turns on.

Incidents of severities you did not tick arrive as standard notifications with their chosen sound.

Respond to an alert

An Oppex alert on iPhone is a notification titled "Incident Assigned:" followed by the service name, with the incident title underneath. Tap it to open the incident in the app. A critical alert looks the same; it differs only in playing its sound through silent mode and Focus. There is no full-screen alarm on iPhone.

For acknowledging, snoozing, and resolving from the app, see Mobile app alerts.

Keep the app up to date

When a new version is released, the app shows Update Available. Tap Download to open the App Store and update. The prompt has no Later button on iPhone; you can close it with the close button, and it may appear again until you update.
