Resolve an incident
Tool: oppex.incident.resolve
Resolves one incident without recording a root cause analysis (RCA). Use it for incidents that need no write-up, such as a false alarm. When you have RCA details to record, the assistant uses Resolve with an RCA instead.
What you provide
| Input | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Incident ID | Yes | The incident to resolve. |
Example prompts
- "Resolve the Millennium Falcon Worker incident — it was a false alarm."
- "The disk usage alert on db-02 cleared on its own. Resolve it."
- "Resolve incident cacgichh-efbg-jv3t1ufo."
Who can use it
| Your role | You can resolve |
|---|---|
| Any role, when the incident is assigned to you | That incident |
| Workspace Admin, Account Admin or Account Owner | Any incident in the workspace |
| Service Admin | Incidents on services you administer, or whose escalation policies include you |
| Responder | Incidents on services whose escalation policies include you |
If your organization requires an RCA before an incident is resolved, this tool is rejected with "This workspace requires an RCA before resolving. Call oppex.incident.resolveWithRCA instead." The assistant checks the setting first and moves to Resolve with an RCA on its own.
Limits and errors
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "Responder can only resolve incidents that belongs to escalation policy they are part of." | You are a Responder who is not on any escalation policy of the incident's service. |
| "Admin can only resolve incidents of services they administer or belong to." | You are a Service Admin who neither administers the service nor is on its policies. |
| Incident not found | No incident in your connection's workspace has that ID. |
What happens next
- The incident moves to Resolved, and Oppex stops any pending escalation.
- The service's email and Slack notifications for the Resolved event are sent, naming you.
- The timeline records "Resolved by <your name>."
You can resolve an incident that has not been acknowledged. An incident that is already resolved stays as it is.
