Slack notifications
Oppex posts incident updates to the Slack channels connected to a service, so your team can follow an incident without opening Oppex. Slack notifications go to channels, not to individual responders, and they do not replace the contact methods on the escalation policy.
A service administrator connects channels and chooses events in the service's settings. Your organization must connect a Slack workspace first.
What a post looks like
When an incident is assigned, Oppex posts the title, service, severity, assignee, and time. Later updates for the same incident go into the same thread.
Service: Checkout Web Severity: SEV2
Assigned to: Aragorn
Time: 25 Sep 2026, 05:10 UTC
The View Incident button opens the incident in Oppex. You cannot acknowledge or resolve an incident from Slack.
Events Oppex can post
A service administrator ticks the events to post under Notification Events: Triggered, Assigned, Acknowledged, Service Change, Severity Change, and Resolved. Each post names who acted, for example "Acknowledged by" or "Resolved by".
Connect a channel to a service
- In the service's settings, click Add Slack Channel.
- In Search channels..., find and select the channel.
- Under Notification Events, select the events to post.
- Save the service.
